profile: Skopelos Dive Center (http://sporadesdiving.gr/) is a certified PADI Dive Center, fully licensed by the Greek Port authorities and supported by DAN Europe (Dive Alert Network). Skopelos Dive Center is classified by PADI as Dive Resort. It has been in operation for 5 years supporting important EU programs such as the BLUEMED project. The center is fully equipped ensuring a safe and pleasant diving experience to all visitors. Skopelos Dive Center’s Head office is located in Thessaloniki and has two branches, one in Adrina Beach Hotel at Panormos bay, and another at the main harbor of Skopelos. The diving center supports the Underwater Survey team of the School of Rural and Surveying Engineering (SRSE) of the Faculty of Engineering of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and is in collaboration with the Ephorate of Underwater Antiquities, of the Ministry of Culture and Sports. Among its activities are included: 1.Training in scuba diving for amateurs and professionals, to obtain an internationally recognized certification, i.e. scuba diver, open water diver, adventure diver, advanced open water diver, master scuba diver, rescue diver, etc.; 2.Rent equipment for scuba diving and snorkeling; 3.Organization of diving tours in Skopelos (Agia Anna, Agios Ioannis, Amarantos, Nisos Dassia, Glisteri, Kirion, Stroggilos Island, Tripiti) and in the Sporades region (island Little Tsougria, Lefteris reef, Prasonisi, Repe's lighthouse).
Blue growth: Among its activities Skopelos Dive Center organizes diving courses of all levels, cruising with snorkeling, rent of diving equipment, underwater activities with children, visit of shipwrecks, beaches and sites of rich marine ecosystem, underwater photography and filming, as well as, 3D digitalization. Skopelos Dive center’s team is not only offering a unique diving experience but at the same time is raising the public awareness on the protection of both natural and cultural heritage of Greece. After five years of struggle this diving center has managed to establish the shipwreck of “Christoforos” located in the island of Skopelos, accessible to the public. Skopelos Dive Center has recently supported the first dives in the classical shipwreck of “Peristera” in the neighboring island of Alonissos. An initiative of crucial importance for the protection and management of the Underwater Cultural Heritage.
